Greetings and happy New Year, everyone! I'm going to leave the Top Ten Women in Gaming entries up for a few days in case anyone missed them and would like to peruse.  For those who would like a quick list (with informative links) here you go:

10. Thalia James of Adventure: the Inside Job (a free game!) for the PC.
9. Irene Ellet of Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3.
8. Wren from Costume Quest for the PS3 and 360.
7. Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 for the PS2.
6. Franziska von Karma from the Ace Attorney series for the DS and Wii.
5. Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 and 360.
4. Elena Fisher from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the PS3.
3. Jennifer Tate from Primal for the PS2.
2. Jade from Beyond Good and Evil for many systems (soon to be for the PS3 and 360!)
1. Commander Shepard from Mass Effect 2 for the 360, PC, and soon PS3.

And since J forgot (Keith W. here speaking from this line down), today marks Mysteries of the Arcana's 2nd anniversary.
So, thanks to all you guys for 2 fun years!

Mmm, gotta agree with you on shepard there, to me fem-shep is the more convincing lead of the two, yet all the promos pretend the male version is the "real" one.

I recall seeing an article somewhere that mentionned that according to Bioware, 88% of the Shepard were male, so it makes sense that they keep pretending that the male one is the real one...

Which is a huge shame considering that female Shepard seems to be a perfect fit for the game. Anyway, agreed completely on #1!

Happy Birthday, Mysteries of the Arcana Smile

Seriously though, it's us who give you a big "Thank you"!

Regarding today's page... Well, that certainly doesn't look good, but I think I'd rather be in Theresa's position than Chrys. At least so far, might change in a page or two...

What's Theresa's problem!?!?!   I thought all women loved to wake up and find themselves tied down spread eagle by sexy dogboys.

I could instantly point out at least a dozen women I know who would NOT be amused, Ysa. ;D

And well, Shepard... I didn't even know one can play him as a female character. And also: Perfectly fit for the game...? I really don't know. A female warrior who made it out of a planet fight as the only survivor now saving the galaxy?
Don't missunderstand me, but the "typical woman" would break in tears when she got on the next ship right out of that hell-hole. As would a man, I assume, but men are known for being able to "act cool" and stuff. And perhaps I'm just a bit of a macho, but in my eyes male Shepard still ist the best choice as Spectre and savior of the world. ;-)

Al, there's nothing typical about Shepard, male or female. S/he performs under pressure that would cause anyone else to crumble. That's sort of the whole point.
