This makes Persona 3 the only game I've ever owned in three different forms (the original Persona 3 on the PS2, Persona 3: FES on the PS2 and Persona 3 Portable on the PSP). One of the things I enjoy about the series is how they've made use of the tarot as inspiration for both people and monsters. It is always fun to see how other creators work with the tarot and let it inspire their works. And see where it intersects with my own ideas and where it deviates.

As for today's page? I have to wonder which makes Theresa more afraid: the goo hurting Chrys or Chrys discovering the memories the goo is bringing up?

http://mysteriesofthearcana.com/index.php?action=journal&id=206&memid=0

The events portrayed in this particular sequence of pages is disturbing. They were disturbing to write. For many, they will be disturbing to read. I could have put a content warning on them the same way I did on those pages with nudity (however artistic and in context that nudity is). I didn't. While the events portrayed are horrific, they aren't explicit and they are vital to understanding both Theresa's story and her character.

I don't want to appear insensitive to readers who are having trouble with Theresa's memories. What Debby is going through is something no one should ever have to experience. It is horrible, degrading, and evil. Unfortunately, it is too often part of our lives.

Debby's rape and what happened after became a defining moment in Theresa's life that propelled her down the path that led to the story presented in Mysteries of the Arcana. It needs to be here, front and center, on the main page, with no interruptions and no barriers.

Thank you for reading.

New Post: Commentary and plugs

http://mysteriesofthearcana.com/index.php?action=journal&id=205&memid=0

Someone noted I haven't been giving much commentary with the current run of pages. I apologize for the lack of commentary but I feel this part of the story needs to tell itself. It is important for you to experience it, I think, and not have me walk you through it. So, please forgive me. Commentary will resume once this sequence is over.

Do you like Mysteries of the Arcana? I hope so, since you're reading the comic! If you do, though, you might also like Hero in Training. After three years or so of never missing an update, Stefan (Hero in Training's creator) took a well deserved break. Now, he's starting up again and I want to make sure everyone knows it.

Hero in Training is a wonderful adventure story with elements of fantasy and science fiction all laid on top of a very simple premise: heroes are both born and made. Those destined to become heroes are trained, in their dreams, to make a difference (for good or for evil) in the world. They don't remember this training when they awaken, of course, but without it they couldn't stand against the oddities and horrors that seem to naturally gravitate towards them.

Give Hero in Training a try. If the large archive is daunting, try this synopsis. Trust me, this is a comic worth reading.
