As for Kickstarter, the truth is it is convenient, easy to use, and most importantly, well known. People are more likely to back a project via Kickstarter than they are through other means such as IndieGoGo. I used it myself to fund chapter 5 of MotA.

However, the comic is currently funded entirely via Patreon, which accepts Paypal, I believe, as well as a few other methods of payment. So, you have more options there!
